Man Who Lies About Being A Harvard Alumnus In Dating App Bio Matches With Actual Harvard Grad, First Date Drama Ensues

Honesty is the best policy. If you lie about something that you think is harmless, chances are that it eventually catches up with you. For example, one of our friends once lied to a guy she was supposed to go on a date with and told him she wasn't feeling well because she didn't feel like going on a date that night. The guy ended up seeing her the same night when she was out with her friends instead of him, and the situation was super awkward and hard to explain. See what we mean? Lies can catch up to you. In today's 'Am I the A$$hole?' post, OP posted about how a guy she matched with on a dating app wrote that he was a Harvard alumnus in his bio, and as a fellow Harvard grad, she got really excited. I studied there myself, so was trying to use that as a way to strike up a conversation, asked him in which college he studied etc. He got very offended saying he only mentioned Cambridge University as a joke (?) and he didn't want to date a pretentious snob like me. He claimed he went to a super famous university when he actually did a certificate at an online extension school. In a way, you actually did him a kindness, OP. Like, I was injured in Navy boot camp and got medically discharged back when I was 18, and it would be like me calling myself a Navy vet--which I definitely do not do.

Turns out, he did a coding bootcamp 3 months ago and has been on the hunt for a tech job with no luck since then.
